It is important that the ambient temperature stays within +16°C to +20°C and humidity within 50–60%. Winter garlic is better kept in a refrigerator, cellar, or insulated balcony. Suitable relative humidity is 50–80% and the temperature range is +1°C to +3°C.

It is important to avoid temperature fluctuations and excessive moisture. Even high-quality seed garlic can start to rot under improper storage conditions. That is why how to store garlic before planting matters.

After purchasing planting garlic, you can store it in:

• a woven basket – this provides ventilation for winter garlic;
• a box with husks or salt – this helps prevent fungus;
• a jar with iodine or oil – this method has an antiseptic effect, but it does not suit every variety.

Also, together with seed garlic, you can buy mint or sage, as storing them together helps prevent mold. It is important to store spring and winter garlic separately, away from apples, potatoes, and similar products. Bulbils and single cloves should also be stored separately.
